Chip Defaults

Chip Defaults for the 1G version of DSMLink are a little different from the 2G version. The 1G version includes a daughterboard with permanent memory. Chip Defaults in this case are simply the initial settings your ECU will start out with when first powered up. After that, all changes you make are permanently recorded so that battery loss or removal of the ECU from the car won't matter. Your settings will be saved.

Still, we do need to know *something* to put into the EPROM, so specify a basic set of parameters here. You can, of course, change these as well as anything else later with the laptop software.

Injectors

Select an injector size as close to your actual injector size as possible. If an exact match isn't listed, that doesn't mean you can't use DSMLink. You can always pick something very close, then tweak from there. In fact, even if your exact injector is listed, you'll still want to fine tune them once you have the package in your car. We simply provide some default values that have been shown to work well for others with known injectors.

MAF Selection

If you're running a non-factory 1G MAF, you need to specify some starting point for MAF compensation.

GM MAFT devices are best left at "zero" compensation (so that they provide a factory MAF signal appropriate for use with 450 injectors). In that case, simply select the factory MAF option. You'll be using DSMLink for fuel compensation instead of the MAFT.

If you have hacked your 1G MAF like a VR4 MAF (removed lower honeycomb), then select the hacked MAF option. Note that there are MANY different, popular ways of hacking a 1G MAF. The only one we have any direct experience with is the VR4 style where only the lower honeycomb has been removed. If you have yours hacked in some other fashion, you will need to account for this in your airflow compensation table once you get DSMLink installed.

If you have a 2G MAF hacked (both sides and one lower honeycomb removed), then select the 2G hacked MAF option. If you have a VPC setup for non-factory injectors, please contact us first to review your options.
